Drawn by Shawn: Fabulous Honeydew, an amazing young wild koala

Long-time Koala Gardens supporter Shawn loves to draw members of the colony and we all love to see his work. His drawings really capture the features and personality of each koala he draws. Here he has drawn Honeydew, a young female koala who has had a very eventful start in life. Found sitting on road near a precarious bend around midnight one night in September 2024, she was in care with Friends of the Koala for several months before her release at Koala Gardens in January 2025. In March of that year she developed conjunctivitis and went back to the koala hospital, where she was treated successfully. She is now healthy and living wild and free

Shawn has his own Discord channel on the Friends of Koala Gardens server. We all get to watch his drawings in stages there. This is a lot of fun.

Over the past few years we have had the privilege of watching Shawn’s drawing abilities develop as he has learned many apps.

This is Shawn’s drawing of the beautiful Honeydew. Shawn says of her “Honeydew is such a beautiful koala and has shown such spirit and resilience in response to the difficult start to her, hopefully,  long and happy life wild and free”
