Enya is a young female koala. She arrived at Koala Gardens in October 2024. She settled in during November and was seen on the property 25 times in December. You can follow more of her story by checking her YouTube playlist below. Koala Gardens shows the daily stories of the koalas here on other social media. Follow us and keep up to date on them all.
Enya arrived came to Koala Gardens as a young adult during dispersal season. Each year, around July to January, young koalas begin moving out through the landscape looking for a place to settle. This is important to ensure genetic diversity and prevent inbreeding. We need lots of private properties to provide safe habitat so our koalas can disperse each year. Koalas are at risk of cars and dogs when moving about. Lots of trees makes this safer and gives them food along the way.
We we so excited when Enya showed us her first joey, a girl we called Eden.
In early 2025 Enya again showed us a definite pouch bulge and we were so happy to meet her second joey, a boy who we name Elliot.
