Hope: beautiful koala poem by Rob Napier

Wild Koala Day Poetry Competition 2024

    Hope

Hope is sitting in the fork of a eucalyptus tree. His head is resting in a “V” between the branches. He is holding on to the smooth branch in front of him with all four paws. The structure of his front paws with their double thumbs and sharp claws can be seen. His eyes are closed as he rests.

    She called
    They came
    A home
    A place
    In loss they answered
    A whole completed

The featured koala is, appropriately, named Hope. You can find out more about Hope here and discover more about his life at Koala Gardens with his gorgeous mum Pearl

Against a background of dense leaves, Pearl is in a tree, sitting on a horizontal branch whilst, holding onto a vertical branch with all four paws. She appears to be asleep. Above her is her 2022 male joey Hope, he is holding onto the same vertical branch and is sitting in a similar position to his mum. He also appears to be asleep.
