Hudson is a real Hugo lookalike. He first appeared on the property in 2022 when Hugo was off the property being treated for chlamydia. He was usually on the property for a day and then not for a few days. This indicates that he must have been  really moving around a lot. Hudson has a very different nose pattern to Hugo of course, but they are so alike you have to wonder whether they are related.

A close up of Hudson’s face. His eyes are open and he looks alert. His dark nose and white chin are prominent. The closeness of the image shows the shading in his mid-grey fur.

He and Hugo actually crossed paths in November, when after his return, Hugo had Hudson trapped  ‘out on a limb’, literally. To  return to the tree, he was going to have to go past Hugo.  This is a typical strategy males use. By the next day both moved to different areas. Hugo having made his point!

Hudson is in the fork of a tree, framed between two smooth barked vertical branches. Facing to camera he is curled up with his head resting on his paws. His face is partially obscured by his left front paw. His large dark nose can be seen as can his ears and the claws of three of the digits of the paw in front of his face. His eyes are open, he looks relaxed.

Hudson moved on in November 2022, but did return for one day in January 2023. Hopefully he has found a place to settle nearby and we may see him again. He is referred to in the Koala Gardens Happenings for 2022 and 2023
