Jasper’s mum Onyx arrived at Koala Gardens in December 2023. It didn’t take long for Katrina to discover that she had a bulging pouch.
We watched with delight until her joey emerged. We have followed him since then. He emerged from mum’s pouch when he was around 6 or 7 months old.
Having a lot of trees provides koalas with a safe place to raise their young and stay healthy.
Katrina was delighted to be able to capture Jasper on one of his first days peeking out of mums pouch.
With the help of his mum Onyx’s, Jasper has grown into a strong confident young koala. He has now dispersed from Koala Gardens and has hopefully found a home range where he can live wild and free and pass on his fabulous genes.
It has been wonderful watching him grow up and move freely through the trees his mum has taught him to eat. Hope for the future!
Jasper has some video on YouTube and even has his very own playlist (below). He also appears in the Koala Gardens Happenings for 2024 and 2025
