Jesse, a young male, came to the kindy at Koala Gardens, in late 2020. His adorable face soon won all our hearts. He had been in care at Friends of the Koala for 15 months due to his long term gut health issues. It was hoped that his time in the kindy would prepare him for release.
During his 5 days on the property, he scaled the fence twice and spent two nights outside the kindy. Friends of the Koala decided to take him back to care in a fully enclosed run. Katrina subsequently added more smooth metal to the kindy fence to prevent even the most acrobatic koala finding a way out!
Jesse returned to Koala Gardens in early 2021. This time he was in the soft release area to get ready for life as a wild and free koala. Jessie clearly liked this idea as he promptly escaped from the soft release area as well. He was seen 68 times after his amazing Houdini style escapes and then he moved on.
We like to believe that he found his own space in this area to live Wild and Free.
Jesse and Pudding are the only koalas to have escaped from the Koala Gardens kindy.
Jesse has lots of videos on YouTube where he has his own playlist. (below). He appears in the Koala Gardens Happenings for 2020 and 2021.
