Matilda a beautiful Koala Queen

Matilda was first seen at Koala Gardens in July 2020. A beautiful, round faced Koala, known to her many fans as “Queen Matilda.” As she settled into the colony  she started to appear in the angophora trees favoured by Mist, Koala Gardens’ most famous former colony member. Matilda’s home range, extended beyond Koala Gardens, so it was always lovely to see her.

Against a background canopy of leaves and branches, Matilda sits curled up in a tree. her face is obscured but her paws and claws are visible.

Soon after she arrived, Matilda attracted the attention of young Swaggie but very firmly told him “no”. Matilda also had a fairly hilarious response to colony male Bullet.

Matilda was last seen at Koala gardens in January 2023. We all hope that she has found a lovely home range and has had joeys. Live well wild and free Matilda.

Facing right with her head turned to camera and against a background of leaves, Matilda is sitting in a tree. Her right foot is holding the b ranch in front of her and her right arm is resting on her right leg. Her fur is wet from rain, her eyes are open, but not focused.

Matilda has lots of videos on YouTube  where she has her own playlist. (below) and she appears in the Koala Gardens Happenings for 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023

Long time Koala Gardens supporter Shawn has also produced a lovely drawing in tribute to the amazing Matilda, which you can see here
