The beautiful 2019 joey of Stevie, Nick was named by Koala Gardens’ Facebook followers who decided on a Fleetwood Mac theme. So he became Stevie’s Nick. He looked  quite a lot like his brother Frankie, although it is likely that they did not have the same father as female koalas don’t necessarily mate with the same male each year.

Against a background of leaves and facing right, Stella is sitting on a branch, holding it with three of her paws and holding a branch to her right with her front right paw. Her features are obscured by leaves. Joey Nick is sitting behind his mum on the same branch. He is reaching up to hols on to strella with both front paws. His features are also obscured by leaves.

Nick separated from Stevie on 17 December. Initially he stayed not too far away from her, but always in a separate tree. They were clearly doing a slow and gentle separation, but Stevie most likely already had another joey in pouch, so, it was  time for Nick, to work things out for himself.

Nick left Koala Gardens in 2020 . He likely followed Stevie , as did Newman. Hopefully, Nick dispersed a bit later in the year to live a long healthy life.

Facing left and surrounded by trees and branches, young male koala Nick is asleep in an angophora tree. His face, although turned to camera is obscured by leaves. His large dark nose can be seen.
Surrounded by branches, young Nick is lying back on a narrow branch holding another narrow branch in front of him with his right hand. His right foot is hanging free in front of the trunk of the tree, giving a clear view of the clawless thumb-like digit as well as his claws. Nick is looking over his right shoulder to camera, his eyes are open and he looks relaxed.

There is video of Nick on YouTube where he appears in the Koala Gardens Happenings for 2019 and 2020.
