Dewdrop feeding well

Dewdrop -

Feeding in a young naturally regenerated forest red gum.         This tree has particularly long leaves, so it's a lot of patient chewing and grinding to get each one down.

Even though she is surrounded by leaf, she is still checking each leaf by smell to find the leaves that have the best chemical composition - water content and percentage of the toxic eucalyptus oil elements.    Koalas can digest these leaves, while almost no other mammal can, but they still have to be careful and eat wisely.
