Visiting Koala Gardens for a tour
Experience the Fascinating Lives of Wild Koalas

Koalas are truly remarkable creatures. They lead rich and complex lives in the wild. At Koala Gardens, I’m passionate about helping people appreciate these iconic Australian animals and the environment they call home.
Arranging Your Visit
Koala Gardens is located in Tuckurimba on a private property. Due to the demands of managing the land and holding down a day job, all visits must be arranged in advance. You must wear sturdy, covered shoes.
- Bookings: All tours are strictly by prior arrangement only.
- Contact Method: Please reach out exclusively by TEXT MESSAGE – either via standard phone text or WhatsApp text. The phone number is available through my Google Maps listing.
- Tours will only proceed if koalas have been found on the property on the day of your booking. I will contact you and confirm on the day.
- Map Access: To view the property’s location, click on the map below for a larger view.
The difference between wild and captive koalas
While it’s common to see them in wildlife parks or zoos, spotting a koala in its natural habitat is a far more immersive and rewarding experience.
In the wild, koalas display a range of natural behaviours—climbing, feeding, grooming, and interacting with other koalas. You might witness a mother with her joey, or see a male marking his territory. These moments are unscripted and unpredictable, providing genuine insight into the lives of these marsupials.

Seeing koalas in their natural home also fosters a deeper understanding of the challenges they face, such as habitat loss, disease, and climate change. It cultivates respect for their environment and underscores the importance of conservation efforts. Wildlife parks play a vital role in education and rehabilitation. However, a wild encounter personalises the impact of conservation in a way that is difficult to replicate behind fences.
You are immersed in this experience while being guided by Katrina. She can answer all your koala questions and tell you the personal stories of each koala you see. This is a truly unique Australian experience that you will take home in your hearts to keep forever.
